The 66th Eurovision Song Contest was held at the Pala Alpitour in the Italian city of Turin from May 10th to 14th, 2022 after the Italian band Måneskin with the title „Zitti e buoni“ won the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam. It was the third edition in Italy after 1965 in Naples and 1991 in Rome.

SEMIFINAL 1

The first semi-final took place on May 10, 2022 at 9:00 p.m. (CEST).

Ten out of seventeen countries qualified for the final. France and Italy as well as the seventeen participating countries voted in this semi-final. See the full show and click the pictures to see the official musicvideos.

The first semi-final was opened by a performance showcasing Italian ingenuity and creativity, accompanied by the official anthem of the contest, „The Sound of Beauty„, performed by Sherol Dos Santos, while the interval featured a medley of „Horizon in Your Eyes“, „Satisfaction“ and „Golden Nights“ performed by Dardust, Benny Benassi and Sophie and the Giants with conductor Sylvia Catasta, a brief homage to Raffaella Carrà performed by the contest presenters and Diodato, who should represent Italy in the 2020 contest, performing „Fai rumore“.

SEMIFINAL 2

The first semi-final took place on May 12, 2022 at 9:00 p.m. (CEST).

Ten out of eighteen countries qualified for the final. Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom as well as the eighteen participating countries voted in this semi-final. See the full show and click the pictures to see the official musicvideos.

The second semi-final was opened by „The Italian Way“, an act built around Italian improvisation performed by co-presenter Alessandro Cattelan, while the interval featured a medley of „Fragile“ and „People Have the Power“ performed by co-presenters Laura Pausini and Mika and Il Volo performing a new version of „Grande amore“

FINAL

The big FINAL of the 66th Eurovision Song Contest took place on May 14, 2022 at 9:00 p.m. (CEST).

Ten songs out of the first and ten songs of the second semi final qualified for the final – plus Germany, Spain, France, Italy and the United Kingdom as the automatic qualifier. The band Kalush Orchestra won the competition for Ukraine with the song „Stefania“, which they wrote together with Ivan Klymenko. After fourth place in the jury voting, the band achieved 439 points in viewer televoting and won with a total of 631 points. It was the country’s third win in the competition after 2004 and 2016.

The Brit Sam Ryder finally took second place with the song „Space Man“ after first place in the jury voting. Chanel came third for Spain with the title „SloMo“. For both countries it was the best result in the last 20 years. Although Rosa Linn from Armenia only managed 20th place in the final, her song „Snap“ became a worldwide hit after the Eurovision Song Contest – and even entered the American Billboard Top 100.

The final was opened by the traditional flag parade, introducing all twenty-five finalists, accompanied by the Rockin‘ 1000 performing “Give Peace a Chance” and co-presenter Laura Pausini performing a medley of „Benvenuto“, „Io canto“, „La solitudine“, „Le cose che vivi“ and „Scatola“. The interval acts included Måneskin performing their new single „Supermodel“ and “If I Can Dream”. Gigliola Cinquetti performing her winning song „Non ho l’età“ and co-presenter Mika performing a medley of „Love Today“, „Grace Kelly“, his new single „Yo Yo“ and „Happy Ending“. Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti also appeared in a pre-recorded message from the International Space Station.
