The 67th Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to take place from May 9th, 2023 to May 13th, 2023 at the Liverpool Arena in the city of Liverpool, United Kingdom. After the Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra with the title Stefania won the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin (Italy) last year, Ukraine would have originally been the host. However, due to Russia’s attack on Ukraine, the EBU decided on June 17, 2022 that it would not be possible to hold the event there. The EBU then commissioned the BBC, which took second place last year, to host the competition in cooperation with the Ukrainian broadcaster UA:Suspilne. The ESC is being held in the UK for the ninth time, more often than in any other country. The BBC last hosted the event in Birmingham in 1998. For the first time since 1980, it is not the previous year’s winner who is organizing the event; at that time the Netherlands stood in for Israel.
